The Miyakawa bank is known a famous place for viewing cherry blossoms. It was called “Sakura no Watashi” in the Edo period, and there are cherry trees that have been planted since the Meiji period as well. It is one of the best places for viewing cherry blossoms in the prefecture now and it is always crowded with visitors. It was designated as a scenic spot by Mie Prefecture in 1937, and was selected as one of Japan’s 100 famous places for viewing cherry blossoms by the Japan Cherry Blossoms Association in 1990.
