Sakakudashi Festival of Iba
Shiga | Higashi-Omi-shi
One of the strange festivals of Oomi having history 800 years or more. It is a ritual that young men from parishioners pull down three mikoshi (portable shrines) from the Sanposan Shrine located halfway between Mt. Kinugasa to the big Tori gate located at the foot of the mountain. There are several places where it is difficult to pass on the 500-meter slope on the precipitous cliff. The three Mikoshi are pulled down accompanied with heroic shouts by the young men.
